After sailing from Martinique to Abaco, Bahamas, Moonshadow took part in the ARC Europe rally. The rally is currently taking a break in the Azores. More precisely we are currently in Angra do Heroismo, Terceira. Beautiful!
About
Moonshadow is a 2012 Fountaine Pajot Salina 48 Evolution (owner's version). She is 14.3 m X 7.7m x 1.2m. She has never been chartered and was well maintained by it's 2 previous owners. Since the purchase, I have reviewed and refurbished every aspect of the boat (Rigging, engines, electrical, electronics, etc...). She has new sails and lines, new desal, new dinghy, new batteries, new tent and bimini and cushions, etc... too many upgrades to mention. When deciding on a purchase, Caroline and I sacrificed performance for comfort but I am very pleased with the performance of this boat. With the new sails, the boat can head up at 40° at good speeds. Down wind we clocked 20knts SOG with the old Gennaker surfing on a wave! (Very nice). Caroline and I keep and extremely clean and tidy boat for our daily comfort. Everything is in working order and I try to keep that way as much as possible.
After bringing the boat back from Preveza in Greece via Lefkas, up the Italian coast to a small port next to San Remo, we finally managed to park her for the winter months in Antibes. After a lot of work, we visited the southern coast of France then crossed down to Corsica then Sardinia. From we went on to the Baleares.
This trip brings us to the Las Palmas in gran Canaria where we will be participating in the ARC rally between Las Palmas and Rodney Bay St Lucia. The start of the rally is set for the 21st of November 2021.
